Effects on Cancer?
Research on green tea’s impact on cancer have been blended. But green tea is known to help healthy cells in all stages of development. There are a few clues that green tea may help kill cancer cells, but that studies still in its initial stages, so you should not count on green tea to prevent cancer. Actually, the National Cancer Institute’s web site says it “doesn’t recommend for or even against the use of green tea to reduce the chance of any type of cancer.”
Drinking green tea helps you slow down and relax, Reardon tells. A natural chemical called theanine found in green tea leaf can provide a relaxing effect.
But perhaps the greatest benefit, which you receive right away, is just taking a tea break.
Do not add green tea leaf to boiling water. It’s actual bad for catechins, all those healthy and balanced chemicals, in the green tea.
Better: 160-170 degree water.
Add lemon. Vitamin C makes the catechins a much easier to absorb. Milk, on the other hand, makes it difficult to absorb them.
Nutritional levels in green tea can vary. Higher priced teas usually have more, and canned green-tea drinks usually have less.
